James and I love a good piece of art. We began collecting (and creating) art early in our relationship. From my grandmother's oils and sketches to our own acrylic work to photography, we just adore curating our home's collection. So, we are a little picky when it comes to finding a new piece.
Recently, we were faced with the task of finding artwork for our dining room. We initially jumped to the idea of hanging a single, large scale abstract or landscape photography piece, but were discouraged by the high price tags. There are just too many projects going on for us to justify splurging on art! So, we began looking on Pinterest and Etsy for inspiration, and found a really neat collection of antique botanical and medical prints that have been pulled from textbooks. We fell in love with the idea of these beautiful, quirky pieces and grabbed up four from The Print Makers. This Etsy shop is really neat, featuring various types of British and Irish vintage prints. Not only are the beauties we selected an interesting addition to our space, we couldn't believe how reasonable they were (only $15 for four).

We decided to hang our four new prints in a grid pattern to create some impact. We also knew that we wanted them to feel a little bigger than they are (8 1/2" x11"), so we picked up some wooden gallery frames with mats. This helped to give them a more grand feel. It was a bit of a challenge to carefully measure out the placement, but we just love how this project came out!
