For Christmas this past December, my sweet, sweet Daddy (yes, I'm a grown woman who calls her father Daddy) gifted me a beautiful handmade wooden porch swing that I had been eyeing ever since James and I moved into our new home. Since the previous owner had a swing as well, we were able to use the hardware that was left behind to hang this beauty! The swing came to me unfinished, and I knew I wanted to do something to it. I thought about how I wanted to finish it for about a month and finally decided to stain it a deep, rich brown. Initially, I had wanted to paint it, but our front porch has a painted floor, so I figured it could use some wood tones added to the mix.
Unfortunately, this project did not go as quickly as I had hoped, and I ended up working on it over two weekends (my back would start hurting after about an hour of hunching over to stain, so I would have to take frequent breaks). The weather also did not cooperate with me, so the swing sat half finished for a couple weeks. Now that it is done, I am so, so happy with it! I think it brings a nice warmth and dimension to the porch! Now, to find pretty outdoor pillows to finish it off! :)
